VDEM is seeking qualified candidates for our Grants Manager vacancy to manage the agency’s grant-making activities. This position will ensure compliance with all regulations and requirements on federal/state grants. The Grants Manager works with their team to develop and implement policies and procedures by which the agency administers its federally funded financial assistance programs. In addition, this position will provide guidance, training and communication of federal grant program parameters and procedures to all involved in the grant processes..
All VDEM employees are designated as essential personnel and may be required to work during emergency situations, such as inclement weather, and natural or man-made disasters/events. This may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official Employee Work Profile (job description).
Knowledge of state budgeting and federal grants management processes and policy requirements. Knowledge of business practices, principles of supervision, and financial monitoring, accounting and reporting. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact with diverse groups to achieve consensus and mutual understanding; plan, prepare, and submit complex reports in a timely manner; administer, monitor, analyze, reconcile and report on multiple complex non-disaster federal grants using parallel accounting systems and spreadsheets. Customer Service acumen. Ability to utilize automated systems. Ability to lead and motivate a team; supervise personnel.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated customer service skills both internally and externally. Graduation from a college or university with major studies in business administration, public administration, management or related field a plus; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Extensive managerial experience in preparation, review, and coordination of federal grants assistance agreements.
Salary commensurate with education and experience. The selected candidate is subject to a background investigation including but not limited to a fingerprint-based criminal history check; Division of Motor Vehicles; consumer credit report; employment verification and degree verification. A valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record and Statement of Economic Interests are required. A one-year probationary period is required of all newly hired and re-hired employees. This position is restricted due to funding sources.
