Virginia State Government IT Asset Mangement Analyst in Chesterfield, Virginia

We seek a dynamic, committed, purpose driven candidate for our IT Asset Management Analyst (IT Technology Specialist II) position. The University is under new leadership and as a result, is currently enjoying a surge in the number of its’ incoming students. The IT Asset Management Analyst position will perform the technical and analytical support for the day-to-day operations of the software and hardware life-cycle (i.e. acquisition through disposal). This includes monitoring and recording software licenses and/or hardware assets in IT Asset Management Suite. Execute standard operating procedures for tracking assets. Receive and deploy inventory of newly-acquired IT assets to business units. Perform periodic physical inventories for Technology Services IT Assets. Perform biannual physical inventories of University IT Assets, in conjunction with Administration and Finance department, Fixed Asset Accounting System to ensure compliance with Commonwealth Accounting Policies and Procedure (CAPP). Record all Installs, Moves, Adds, and Changes (IMAC) in the database repository to ensure compliance with the IT Asset Management best practices. Enter all software and hardware serial numbers or identification tags into the configuration management database and ensure information is up-to-date, accurate, and auditable. Serves as the ITSM (Information Technology Service Management) coordinator for IT Asset Management queue.
Monitors and records software maintenance agreement to ensure compliance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Information Security Standards (SEC-501) and University IT Security policies and procedures. Track and maintain copies of software licenses, warranties, maintenance agreement, and lease and vendor contacts to include contract expirations.
Researches problems that cannot be resolved immediately and coordinate problem resolution. Determine whether reported problems require a technician site visit. Write up common problems and solutions for inclusion on Help Desk Web Page.
Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves Level One problems for users on the campus IT services, to include, but not limited to networking, authentication computer, mobile devices, security, software, and multimedia devices in a call center environment; communicates solutions to end-users.
Other duties as assigned by Director of IT Services, Chief Information Officer, or designee to ensure cohesive and collaboration within the organization.
Experience working with database technology including Microsoft Access, the formation of SQL queries and database table mapping with emphasis on data normalization. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Applications and the use of pivot tables to perform data analysis. Knowledge of software licensing agreements. Experience with Symantec Altiris of similar IT Asset Management Suite. Knowledge if lifecycle asset management practices. Must be a team player, proactive, possess excellent problem solving, and organizational skills. Must be able to act tactfully and deal effectively with competing deadlines and priorities. Handles multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. Possesses the ability to interact and communicate with stakeholders at different levels within the organization, which includes senior management, operations, personnel, and partners.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Management or related field highly preferred. ITIL Foundation certificate and CHAMP certification preferred.
