Chesterfield County Senior Recreation Specialist - Mid-Lothian Mines Historical Park in Chesterfield, Virginia

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in History, Education, Recreation or related field; bachelor's degree or higher preferred; and two years of experience in a related work environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of non-profit management operations; knowledge of programming related to history; considerable skill in communication techniques and leadership; knowledge of budget preparation and administration; ability to raise funds to support programming. Good driving record required. Must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.


Plans, coordinates and implements education programs, special events, capital improvements and fundraising endeavors for the Mid-Lothian Mines and Railroad Foundation (MM & RRF) in support of the Mid-Lothian Mines Park. Assists in the operation of the MM & RRF to include budget development, correspondence preparation, historical research, publicity and promotion of the MM & RRF; creation of joint programming efforts with other Parks and Recreation and school programs and with the Chesterfield Heritage Alliance member organizations and volunteers. Perform other work as required.


Monday - Friday; 8:30a.m. - 5:00p.m.; includes some evenings, weekends and holidays.
