We seek a dynamic, committed, purpose driven candidate for our Web Graphics Designers/Developer (IT Technology Specialist II) position. The University is under new leadership and as a result, is currently enjoying a surge in the number of its’ incoming students. The Web Graphics Designers/Developer position will Provide technical support in the development of the VSU website in collaboration with VSU constituents in third-party vendors design and develop brand strategies performing web application programming and content management web data analysis and training. Provides graphic design support for the web services team. Creates web graphics for VSU web properties, internal tools and solutions and other for other technology services initiatives as needed. Creates mock ups for site and page layouts that can be easily converted to HTML5 in implemented. Ensures brand consistency between the web projects, VSU web properties and the University brand. Create in maintain standards for media assets ( stylesheets, graphics, fonts) used in/on VSU web properties and other web development projects. Provides technical support in the enterprise web content manager system in order to ensure the university’s brand and marketing strategies are consistent with the web design and web policies and provide technical support in the enterprise web content manager system in order to ensure the universities brand in marketing strategies are consistent with the web design and web policies. Designs and implement webpages and other web solutions for the university’s web and mobile properties. Maintains and update university websites with content and dynamic features. Regularly fix and or and/or eliminate site issues and/or problems. Aids in the preparation of detailed technical specifications, instructions and reviews the work of junior project team members to ensure compliance with standard/specifications and other guidelines. Develops high level system, functional specifications, test cases, and test results. Take part in the development of effective reporting tools for the business department to monitor web traffic on its website. Utilize web data analysis tools such as Google Analytics and other tracking tools to capture, analyze, and report on VSU web traffic, demographics, and other related data as it pertains to VSU web properties. Aggregates the data to determine general activity levels on our Web site, as well as, to identify broken links and related problems, and also to help organize the content on our web site to make the most popular content easy to fine.

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable experience using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and/or Firework. Competence with PHP and doing development on a Linux operating system. Experience using any modern Content Management System such as Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress and Cascade Server in particular. Considerable experience in JAVA, Javascript, HTML, XHTMA, CSS and/or other web development tools. Proven analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently. Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, vendors, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Designer/Graphics or related field highly preferred. Experience working in a higher education environment.
