Virginia Premier Health Plan Driver II in Glen Allen, Virginia
Overview
PLEASE NOTE: This role is Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, and you must be available anytime between the hours of 5:00am - 8:00pm.
A Transportation Driver is responsible for providing Virginia Premier members with safe and efficient transportation to and from their medical appointments, health and wellness events, and educational sessions. The Driver is also responsible for the safety and maintenance upkeep of the company owned vehicles.
Responsibilities
Transport members to and from appointments in a safe, courteous, efficient and timely manner
Assist members in and out of van and escorting members to and from facility if necessary
Maintain vehicle checklist of van usage, gas expenditures, mileage and bus ticket distribution
Complete and maintain PASS training and perform wheelchair van transports.
Notify the supervisor/dispatcher immediately of any accidents, problems with the vans, or issues with members
Ensure daily schedule and van checklist are kept secure, and turned in daily
Use proper phone/MDT etiquette including confidentiality of member’s protected health information (PHI)
Update MDT of all pick-up and drop-offs, no-shows, and cancellations
Attend educational and training courses as directed by management staff
Daily pre and post operation vehicle inspection
Regular maintenance and equipment checks
Keeping van neat and clean inside and out
Maintain productivity Transportation standards in relation to trips and loaded mileage
Attend health fairs, health educational seminars, marketing activities as directed by management staff
Conduct duties as assigned by management and related to completed training to aid in the transportation operations as needed which may include assisting with dispatch operations
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS
Ability to read roadmaps and operate GPS
Excellent driving skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent customer service skills
WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE
Experience working with the public
Two (2) years previous driving experience to include transporting passengers preferred
Good driving record to include positive points on driver’s license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, push, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee will push wheelchair onto lift or up ramp, put it into place on the van, secure the seatbelt and strap the chair down appropriately. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and must be able to push the wheelchair with the weight of the member in it.
