Virginia State Government Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in Nottoway, Virginia
Piedmont Geriatric Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to serve as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. PGH is a 123-bed psychiatric hospital for individuals aged 65 and older. Patients at PGH present a variety of psychiatric conditions, including dementia, serious depression, and psychosis, among many others. The Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant will apply knowledge of principles and practices related to physical therapy, assist the PT with evaluation of patient needs, development and implementation of physical therapy treatment plans,modalities, therapeutic exercise, developmental therapy, rehabilitative therapy and the use of orthopedic and adaptive equipment. The desired candidate will assist with documenting and sharing with the PT the patient’s response to treatment to enable appropriate progression of the treatment plan and improve the client’s quality of life. The LPTA will complete documentation with adherence to Federal, State, and Facility guidelines. The LPTA will assist, and support teaching, and training of PGH staff. The LPTA will professionally collaborate with other clinician’s and team members to effect an optimal outcome for the patient and create a positive working environment.
The successful candidate will: Possess an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited education program.
Requires licensure by the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy to practice or eligible to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
Long term care/MRDD experience preferred.
Previous experience working in a clinical setting and with an interdisciplinary team preferred.
Previous experience as a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (LPTA) is preferred
Satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check, Department of Social Service’s Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS OIG Exclusion List check, employment reference check, E-Verify and satisfactory results from your required pre-employment drug test.
