We are currently seeking a Civil Design Software Technician to join our Richmond, Virginia office location. This role provides support, technological expertise and design system management for all Civil design software used by Timmons Group. This primarily includes, but is not limited to, Autodesk Civil 3D. This position is responsible for providing on-going support to our design software users with existing and future technical expertise, development of software resources and guided management of design system standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:Civil
Advise and assist Civil Design Software users with most efficient process and state methods.
Develop new and maintain current internal resources within Civil Design Software to increase productivity and efficiency.
Work with users one on one to troubleshoot, as well as increase their knowledge and efficiency in Civil Design Software.
Work with IT on managing hardware and software licensing.
Provide technical support for Civil Design Software users.
Help develop and enforce CAD Standards under guidance of CAD Steering Committee.
Collaborate with designers/drafters, design engineers, Steering Committee, and IT to promote integration, facilitate communications and resolve critical issues.
Identify continuous improvement opportunities such as the use of supporting software not currently used to make Civil design production processes more efficient.
Emphasize continuous quality improvement; monitor drawings and filing standards and implement quality control programs per the Civil 3D Standards.
Help CAD Steering Committee establish Civil design performance goals that support division and project objectives.
Travel to branch offices regularly to work with Civil 3D users.
Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD & Autodesk Civil 3D. Basic knowledge of Bentley Microstation a plus.
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering a plus but not required.
Unrivaled client service skills.
Exceptional aptitude for learning and adapting, especially with new software (reference verification encouraged).
Basic understanding of one or more programming languages with the ability to learn more.
Unrivaled computer literacy.
Strong analytical, problem solving skills and attention to detail.
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, facilitation and organizational skills.
25 – 30% travel required. (Mostly day trips)
