Job Title: Construction Project Manager (Industrial)

Reports to: Project Executive


The Construction Project Manager’s job is to oversee both small and large-scale industrial construction projects from estimating turnover to completion, interfacing with both construction professionals and the client. The ideal candidate will be responsible for budgeting, organization, implementation and scheduling of the projects. Travel is required to neighboring areas within Richmond VA, so reliable transportation is necessary. The position includes benefits, competitive salary and paid time off.

Essential Functions:

  • Proven working experience in construction management, with excellent time and project management skills

  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion

  • Work with pre-construction and client at the start of each project to ensure a proper understanding of the project’s scope and plan

  • Develop and implement a sound project execution plan for each project

  • Coordinate and direct construction workers, suppliers and subcontractors

  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status

  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses

  • Analyze, manage and mitigate risks

  • Monitor and implement effective change control to include processing change orders

  • Approve supplier and subcontractor invoices and draft pay applications to client

  • Coordinate with various internal departments such as pre-construction, sales, safety, purchasing, VDC, and fabrication shops as well as clients, subcontractors and key vendors to develop and maintain a build plan and schedule

  • Daily monitoring of key metrics and mentoring site leadership to support the timely execution and completion of the work within budget and with no defects or accidents

  • Prepare, monitor, and maintain project budgets and schedules, and report to senior management on key metrics and financial data

  • When necessary, develop recovery plans to bring metrics, such as issues with safety, quality, or production back to plan

  • Represent Atlantic Constructors to current and prospective clients. Participate in client and/or vendor meetings, as well as in-house meetings.

  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques and safety

  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility (Direct Reports Y/N) Y


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Construction Engineering or related field of study, and/or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience

  • 7+ years’ experience in industrial construction project management for projects ranging from $10K to $10M USD

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines

  • Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance

  • Ability to read blueprints, P&ID’s, structural and equipment drawings and plans, etc.

  • Must have intermediate-advance level Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software skills

  • Must have a satisfactory driving record, criminal record, and ability to pass a drug screen

  • Requires overtime as needed


  • Prior military experience


May require infrequent travel outside of the Richmond VA area
