US Foods Delivery Driver CDL A - Richmond in Richmond, Virginia
The primary function of this position is to drive a tractor trailer and manually unload, using a hand truck or two-wheeler on metal truck ramps, various products (meats, produce, frozen foods, groceries, dry goods, equipment and supplies) to customer drop-off sites while providing excellent customer service. Return the empty trailer to the distribution center. Must have a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class A issued by the state of legal residence with the necessary endorsements and be DOT qualified. All functions must be completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. May also be called upon to do duties of Backhaul or Shuttle Driver.

Perform all pre-trip responsibilities including: obtaining and reviewing driver itinerary, checkingroute numbers and account numbers for assigned deliveries, counting items andchecking customer invoices of products that have been loaded, moving tractorsto the loading dock to attach the preloaded trailers, completing requiredtrailer temperature checks and performing pre-trip safety check inspections oftrucks and trailers according to Department of Transportation (DOT)regulations.
Drive to and deliver customer orders to meetthe scheduled customer times and maintain adequate productivity rate to meetdelivery schedules. Use electronic timekeeping system to log in time at customer site.
Visually surveycustomer’s site during the approach to determine hazards.
Unload products from the trailer with a handtruck or by hand and place items in designated customer storage areas.
Verify delivery of correct items with customerand obtain proper signatures. Collectmoney (cash or checks) where required. Contact division management for authorization of invoice discrepanciesand communicate all errors and returns.
As requested by management, drive backhauls whichrequires picking up product from vendors and bring back to warehouse forreceiving while staying within DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
As requested by management, drive shuttleswhich requires moving loaded trailers containing various food products,equipment and supplies and empty trailers to and from remote dispatch sites whilestaying within DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
Return tractor and trailer to division whenroute is completed.
Perform all post-trip responsibilities: unloadingdamaged goods and customer returns and completing necessary paperwork; performingsafety checks on the truck and trailer, unhooking and securing the trailer;fueling (as required by the division); parking and securing the tractor andhand truck; completing DOT logs (electronic or manual as required) and companyvehicle maintenance reports (DVIR) and reconcile these with the appropriatecompany representative as required.
Attend all requiredcompany meetings and adhere to all safety practices and company policies.
Follow division shift times, enterdays of week and hours, and continueuntil the work is completed within DOT HOS regulations. Some Holiday,Saturday, Sunday, and overnight deliveries may be required.Must satisfactorilycomplete all company mandated trainings and assessments including US Foods Driver Onboarding program.

Education/Training : High School Diploma/GEDpreferred. Must be able to read, writeand communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safetyregulations. Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply,divide) and ability to work with money collected from customers to ensure theamount collected matches the invoiced amount.
Related Experience/Requirements:Minimum six months commercial driving experience or three months foodservice or food and beveragedelivery experience required. Experience delivering food productspreferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities : Must be atleast 21 years of age. Must be able touse, or learn to use, all equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) i.e.XATA, POD, and tools used to perform the job.Must be able to perform all jobfunctions safely. Must be able to workthe scheduled/assigned times and required overtime for the position. Must know/have ability to learn materialsafety data sheet information regarding all material used within the scope ofthe work. Must be able to performcoupling procedures for the Tractor/Trailer. Must have excellent customer service skills. Must successfully complete the DOT writtenexamination for drivers and pass a controlled substance abuse screeningtest. Must be able to work in extremeweather conditions, including applying tire chains if needed. Must adhere to all safety practices andcompany policies.
No more than two convictions in the past twoyear period for traffic violations. No more than one of these may be aserious (as defined by DOT) violation or result of an accident - company orprivate vehicle; No DUI convictions within past three years, regardless of typeof vehicle operated; no driver's license suspension within past three years(insurance and overweight tickets are excluded); and no termination by previousemployer for failure to comply with safety regulations or for accidentinvolvement.
