The Virginia Department of Education, Office of Fiscal Services, is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to develop and maintain Office of Fiscal Services’ supported applications using standard methods and tools; maintain all current applications per user requirements; contribute to ad hoc reporting; adhere to DOE and state software standards; provide the data needed by the Office of Fiscal Services; utilize current infrastructure and technology to maintain stable and secure development and production environments; coordinate with the DOE EIM unit as directed by the Associate Director and/or Director of Fiscal Services; provide programming and support for analysis of Office of Fiscal Services systems to meet fiscal services’ needs; and assure compliance with state and federal regulations as they relate to financial systems requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and skill in system development methodology (applications development including analysis, design, programming, testing, documentation), relation databases, Linux, and Windows Operating Systems, Java, Web Application servers (Oracle R12), HTML, SQL, PL/SQL, Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrate the ability to work on multiple projects, developing project scope, and estimates of effort.

Demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with team members to ensure success of projects and systems.

Demonstrate the ability to define problems and apply problem solving techniques to complex issues.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in information systems, computer science, or related field or demonstrated progressively responsible experience in developing and maintaining information systems.

Special Requirements

Successful candidate must pass a criminal background check.

Management approval to telework is contingent upon successful completion of 6 months of employment and the business needs of the work unit.
