VCU Health System's Business Office - Coding Svcs-Proce is seeking a full time Medical Coder - Lead to support Pediatrics, Dermatology and Ophthalmology. This person will lead a team of coders and/or billers by assisting Supervisors with the daily production by working with team members to ensure that established productivity/benchmark standards are met and/or exceeded each month. "A great opportunity to work remotely, if approved by the appropriate channels" Responsibilities Provides education and training to billers and/or coders. Provides coding/billing education, communication and feedback to physicians and division administrators. Conducts ongoing audits as defined by management. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or equivalent Previous work experience using a personal computer and various software applications, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), e-mail, etc. Minimum of three (3) years of physician billing, ICD-9/10 and CPT coding to include experience using IDX software with emphasis on Medicare/Medicaid and commercial third party reimbursement Minimum of one (1) year previous work experience in a lead role One of the following certifications is required: Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) by the American Academy of Procedural Coders or Certified Coding Specialist Physician-based (CCS-P) by the American Health Information Management Association or Equivalent/comparable coding certification Preferred Three (3) years of lead/supervisory work experience Five (5) years of healthcare billing experience using IDX software Five (5) years of physician billing and coding experience
