Unboxed Technology Senior Marketing Content Strategist in Richmond, Virginia

Overview of Role

The Senior Marketing Content Strategist supports business development efforts by creating engaging content that speaks to prospective and existing clients. This role is responsible for developing content in a number of writing styles for a variety of media, including print and web. The Senior Marketing Content Strategist leads all elements of content creation, from strategy to final production of written content, while generating high quality and innovative work.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and partners to define best content, design approach, and delivery methods

  • Build and maintain an editorial calendar of content to attract subscribers, convert visitors into leads, and expand overall reach

  • Develop clear, concise, and audience-focused content in a variety of formats including website copy, blog articles, case studies, infographics, video scripts, email campaigns and newsletters, and ad copy

  • Create the strategy and manage Unboxed social media accounts by defining cadences for posts and creating platform-specific content

  • Ensure all web content adheres to current SEO best practices

  • Establish a sustainable, strategic approach to public relations and participate in online community discussions related to Unboxed products, services, and methodologies

  • Measure the impact of published content and use that data to inform future content strategies

  • Support the sales team by creating content for pitch decks, product sheets, proposals, and other business development material

  • Ensure brand and style consistency in all marketing materials

  • Assist in evaluating effectiveness of marketing strategies and recommending improvements

  • Follow and recommend improvements to Unboxed’s design/development standards, including development process, organization, reviews, editing, deployment processes, and documentation

  • Assist in additional business development activities as needed


  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to collaborate with creative teams, technical teams, and executives to drive alignment

  • Proficiency with popular marketing tools and methodologies (Wordpress, HubSpot, Google Analytics, Moz, SEO, etc.)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Infrequent travel required


  • Bachelor’s degree in a writing-related field or equivalent experience is strongly preferred

  • 5-7 years of professional marketing content strategy and writing experience in an agency-like setting strongly preferred

  • Experience writing for B2B and technology companies strongly preferred

  • Basic graphic design skills preferred
