VCU Health System's Support Services is seeking a Full Time - Sterile Processing Technician. Under the supervision of a Sterile Processing Supervisor and or Manager, the Sterile Proc Tech performs a variety of indirect patient care activities that include decontamination of surgical instruments and sterilization of instruments, supplies and equipment; ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are prepared and ready for assembly on case carts; observing strict patient confidentiality following all HIPAA rules and regulations; and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Responsibilities Decontaminate and sterilize all instruments and equipment according to procedures. Maintain inventory and par levels of all instruments and supplies. Follows OSHA and TJC guidelines. Assemble and prepare basic instrument sets and case carts. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or equivalent. Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification within 24 months of hire. Preferred Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification. Completion of International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management certification preparation course. Previous work experience as a Sterile Processing Technician or healthcare related position.
